Bylaws and Constitution

Article I: Name and Purpose

Section 1. Name

The name of this organization is United Geothermal.

Section 2. Purpose

The purpose of United Geothermal is to provide only quality geothermal heat pump dealers and installers with services to distinguish themselves from imitators by:

Providing membership to only qualified, honest and experienced ground source installers;
Separating the “Pros from the Joes” to increase customer confidence in both the industry as a whole and individual contractors;
Promoting the skill, knowledge and integrity of United Geothermal members through effective marketing tactics;
Educating consumers on the ground source industry as a whole to promote continuous, steady growth;
Promoting collaboration, not competition among qualified contractors to spread new techniques and knowledge.

Article II: Membership

Section 1. Eligibility

In order to obtain membership with United Geothermal, individuals, corporations, or groups (hereafter referred to as contractor or installer) must have an application approved as well as meet the following guidelines:

Previously installed at least 75 successful geothermal heat pumps;
Installed geothermal over a period of at least 5 years;
Have a positive customer feedback record;
Have recieved accreditation from the from the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association;
Pledge to follow the IGSHPA installation standards;
Be Properly licensed and Insured in each operating state;
Be willing and able to collect customer testimonials;
Maintain a commitment to support the industry in order to promote greener, healthier living

Section 1.2. Application Committee

The application committee is comprised of a number of experienced geothermal heat pump contractors with over 70 years of combined industry experience. Each application will be carefully considered for membership. United Geothermal welcomes all applicants and members to provide feedback on any and all processes.

Section 2. Dues

Once granted membership with United Geothermal, all members must meet the set due requirements to remain in good standing.

Section 3. Membership Privileges

Members are entitled to the following programs and documents:

Access to educational and promotional documents aimed to increase industry knowledge;
Training programs and/or videos to maintain expertise;
Opportunity to submit content or material to the editorial staff for further publication;
Effective marketing services to promote both individual contractors as well as the entire geothermal heat pump industry;

Article III: Amendments

United Geothermal maintains the right to amend or add to these Bylaws and Constitution
